Joint Stock Company Marka has been implementing the project of issuing postal blocks and stamps with the augmented reality technology since 2018. The free of charge mobile application of the mARka project is available for download in the App Store, Google Play, and RuStore. After the application has been installed and launched, follow the screen prompts. In order to "animate" a postage stamp or block, point the camera at the stamp image and you will see an animated 3D model and hear a sound accompaniment.

The use of up-to-date visual technologies makes it possible to break the restraints of the habitual perception of a postal miniature as valuable postal matter and expand its consumer appeal. In years to come, such stamps and blocks will open an unlimited access to the world of information for all users of postal services; they will make it possible to expand significantly the scientific and cognitive potential of a postage stamp and attract more people, including children and young people, to philately.

As was stated by Artem Adibekov, the Director General of JSC Marka,
Digital technologies are part of modern society; hence, their use in postage stamps is natural for the current stage of philately development. In 2018, Russia was the first in the world to introduce AR content into postage stamps. We are pleased to present a new application with enhanced functionality, high speed and a new collection. We are sure that integration with the virtual world holds vast prospects for the use of postage stamps in scientific and educational environment, for the development and popularization of Russia's cultural and natural potential.

The technical aspect of the Project was implemented by EligoVision Ltd. in the EV Toolbox AR and VR project builder using a new built-in functionality, i.e., a flat surface tracking technology.

According to Sergey Matveev, the Director General of EligoVision Ltd.,
The symbiosis of a postage stamp and augmented reality is a unique case of combining traditional values and modern technologies. Such projects evoke only cordial emotions and precious recollections. After all, who of us, representatives of the older generation, missed collecting stamps in our youth? I am glad that our company has become a part of this wonderful project, and I am sure that it will arouse interest in stamp collecting among people of the most different ages!
