Martial Waters is a balneotherapeutic and mud health resort founded by Peter I in 1719. It is situated 50 km off of Petrozavodsk, at the orifice of chalybeate, nitrogenous, hydrocarbonate and sulfate subacidic mineral waters.
In 1719, construction of numerous structures began, which included three wooden palaces, a four-room house for a doctor to live in, residential buildings for patients, and a hall for equitation. A carved wooden pavilion was erected over the spring used for the Royal family and the tsar's coterie. There are four wells of various depth and iron levels. The water has been tested numerous times over the centuries, and data comparison has shown the persistence of its chemical composition.
In February 1964, the all-Union balneotherapeutic health resort was opened under the name of Martial Waters, which was initially given to it by Peter I.
Diseases of circulatory, digestive, respiratory, musculoskeletal and cardiovascular systems are treated at the resort currently.
