On December 6, a postage stamp dedicated to the 25th Anniversary of signing the Treaty on the Creation of a Union State was put into postal circulation in the framework of the Joint Issue of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus

December 8, 2024, marks the 25th Anniversary of signing the Treaty on the Creation of a Union State.

In January of 2000, President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko and President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin exchanged instruments of ratification, and from that moment, the most important interstate document came into effect.

The goals proclaimed by the Union Treaty, such as the development of fraternal peoples, building of a common economic space, observation of the rights and freedoms of citizens, pursuing a coordinated foreign, defense and social policy, combating terrorist danger, serve as a testimony of the creation of a new type of interstate association, where large-scale integration work is combined with the sovereign equality of the member states.

The coordinated decisions taken over a quarter of a century in the most important areas of the Union construction ensure protection of national interests of the states united by the Union Treaty, mutual support in addressing issues on the international agenda, dynamic economic, scientific, technical, social and cultural cooperation between our countries for the benefit of millions of Belarusians and Russians. Such interaction confirms the close historical ties, the spiritual unity of the fraternal peoples and their focus on building a common future.

The postage stamp provides an image of the emblem of the Union State as well as Russian and Belarussian ornaments; the margins of the souvenir sheet feature coats of arms of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation and quotes of the presidents of the states A. Lukashenko and V. Putin.

In addition to the issue of the postage stamp, JSC Marka produced First Day Covers and a special cancel for Moscow, as well as an illustrated cover with a souvenir sheet inside.
