On July 6, a souvenir sheet dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania was put into postal circulation



The Republic of North Ossetia-Alania is a constituent entity of the Russian Federation. It is part of the North Caucasus Federal District. The capital is the city of Vladikavkaz. In December 1990, it was renamed the North Ossetian ASSR, and in 1993 it gained the status of the Republic of North Ossetia. In January 1995, the region received its current name, the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania.

Nowadays, the economy of the Republic is represented by developed industry and diversified agriculture. The primary industries are non-ferrous metallurgy, machine building, mining, electronic and consumer industry, glass and food manufacturing industry.

About 2.5 thousand monuments of federal and republican significance are registered in the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania. There are settlements in the region that have the status of historical localities. The territory of the Republic is home to unique gorges and fortresses, ancestral towers, as well as more than 300 springs of table and therapeutic mineral waters and more than 35 glaciers.

The margins of the souvenir sheet feature the coat of arms of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, the monument to Kosta Khetagurov and the monument Fatima Holding the Sun in Vladikavkaz, the Alanian Holy Dormition Monastery, the Mukhtarov Mosque, the Zaramagskaya HPP-1, the Gaeva Beka defense tower, a traditional ceremonial bowl, a red deer and an ethnical ornament. The stamp provides the inscription “100 Years. Republic of North Ossetia-Alania”.
