The Republic of North Ossetia-Alania is a constituent entity of the Russian Federation. It is part of the North Caucasus Federal District. The capital is the city of Vladikavkaz. The population as of January 1, 2023, was 687,357.
The economy of the Republic is represented by developed industry and diversified agriculture. About 2.5 thousand monuments of federal and republican significance are registered in the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania. There are settlements in the region that have the status of historical localities. The territory of the Republic is home to unique gorges and fortresses, ancestral towers, as well as more than 300 springs of table and therapeutic mineral waters and more than 35 glaciers.
