On May 15, a postage stamp dedicated to the 300th Anniversary of foundation of Perm was put into postal circulation

Perm is the administrative center and a modern city on the borderline between the European and Asian parts of Russia; it is located in front of the Ural Mountains, on the banks of the Kama River. The history of its foundation is related to the beginning of construction of a Yagoshikha copper smelting works by V.N. Tatishchev in 1723. In 1781, by a Decree of Empress Catherine II, the settlement in this area received the status of a provincial one and the modern name.

The 19th century saw the formation of the unique appearance of the city, with enormous factory buildings and majestic merchants’ mansions, and the construction of most of the extant buildings and outstanding architectural monuments. During the Great Patriotic War, more than 150 defense industry enterprises were relocated to the Perm Region from the western part of Russia, including four gunpowder factories, which produced shells for legendary Katyusha mortar cannons. In the Soviet times, Perm was a semi-closed industrial center, and an essential share of the Russian cannons of the 20th century were manufactured there.

Today Perm is a multi-industry, scientific and cultural center. The leading sectors of the city's economy are mechanical engineering, oil and gas processing, electrical power engineering, chemistry and petrochemistry, food manufacturing, woodworking, and printing production. The intersections of transcontinental highways, railroads, and airlines make Perm a significant transportation hub and logistics center of the Ural Region. The waterway along the Kama River operates in the direction of five seas: the Azov, Black, Caspian, White and Baltic Seas. Perm bears the honorary title of City of Labor Valor. There are a lot of most beautiful natural sights and architectural works: churches and temples, theaters, and ancient museums.

The postage stamp shows the building of the Perm Museum of Local Lore and the Legend of the Perm Bear sculpture against a background of the panorama of the city of Perm.

In addition to the issue of the postage stamp, JSC Marka produced First Day Covers and special cancels for Moscow and Perm, as well as an illustrated envelope with the postage stamp, labels and a First Day Cover with a cancel for Perm inside.
