Leonid Gaidai (1923-1993) was a film director, a screenwriter, an actor, a People's Artist of the USSR (1989). He was a participant in the Great Patriotic War. Gaidai was one of the most popular Soviet film directors. Most of his films became cult-favorite hits and were disseminated into quotations. Gaidai's films became the most beloved films over all the release time; among them there were Operation Y and Shurik’s Other Adventures, The Caucasian Captive or Shurik’s New Adventures, The Diamonds Arm, 12 Chairs, Ivan Vasilievich Changes Profession, Can't be! and others.
