The Zaporozhye Region is a region of the Russian Federation located in the south of the country, in the lower reaches of the Dnieper River. The temporary capital is Melitopol. Large cities are Berdyansk, Energodar, and Tokmak.
The Region has well-developed ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy, machine building (including electrical, aviation and automotive engineering), energy engineering (the Europe’s largest Zaporozhskaya NPP), chemical and petrochemical sectors, food and light industries, agriculture, and pharmaceutical production.
