Ivanovo region was founded on january 14, 1929. It is located in the centre of the European part of Russia, between the Volga and the Klyazma. There are 20 administrative districts and 17 cities in Ivanovo. The capital of the region is Ivanovo and the largest cities are Kineshma and Shuya. The stamp features Ivanovo Cotton Museum, the landscape of the region, a truck crane "Ivanovets", a monument composition by A.N.Dushkin and A.M.Tomsky. The stamp also features a stylized picture of Zhar-Ptica, a symbol of Palekh, the native land of famous lacquer miniature.
