The Gatchinsky palace-and-park ensemble is one of the outstanding models of palace-and-park building in Russia. It possesses unique individuality and complements the pearl ring of the suburban royal residences of St.Petersburg. The stamp features the Gatchinsky Palace. It used to be a hunting hall of Duke Orlov, a favourite of Yekaterina II, then it became a residence of Russian emperors Pavel I, Nikolay I, Alexander II and Alexander III. The stamp also features a statue of Pavel I.
