№ 813-817. The fourth issue of standard Russian Federation stamps

The stamp features the palace in Arkhangelskoye and a sculpture of Artemis with a deer. Arkhangelskoye, the cultural memorial of the 18th - 19th cc, is famous for the magnificent beauty of the palace and the park, for various collections of painting, graphics, sculptures, scarce books, etc. Artemis is a goddess of hunting and fructuousness.

The stamp features the Chinese palace in Oranienbaum and a sculpture "Omphala". Since 1743 Oranienbaum has been the summer residence of Peter III. It was Emperor Catherine II who had ordered to built the Chinese palace, a unique bulding of the 18th century which was not destoyed during the Great Patriotic War. Omphala was a Lydian queen. Heracles was sold her for slave for killing Iphrit. After the first year in her palace Heracles had to wear woman clothes and do house work together with other maidservants. Omphala wore his lionskin and carried his stick.

The stamp features the hall Marfino and a sculpture "Griffin". The Hall is an original memorial of Russian architecture (18-19cc). A griffin is a winged beast with a body of a lion and a head of an eagle, watches treasure.

The stamp features the Grand palace in Pavlovsk and a sculpture "Erminia". The Grand palace was built in 1782 in Russian classicism by Ch.Cameron.

The stamp features the palace in Kuskovo and an allegory sculpture of the river Skamander in Troya. Kuskovo was built in th 18th century. It was first referred to as the property of the Sheremetevs in the beginning of the 16th century.
