Alexei V. Alelyukhin (1920–1990) was a Soviet fighter pilot, Major General of Air Forces (1971), twice Hero of the Soviet Union (1943).
Alexei V. Alelyukhin was born on March 30, 1920, in the village of Kesova Gora of the Tver region in a worker family. Having finished the elementary school, he worked at the Moscow factory of office supplies and at the same time studied at a glider school.
A. Alelyukhin was in the service of the Red Army since 1938. He graduated from the Chkalov Military Aviation school (1939), the Frunze Military Academy (1948) and the Voroshilov Highest Military Academy (1953; nowadays the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation).
A participant in the Great Patriotic War since 1941, he rose through the ranks from an aircraftsman to the Deputy Commander of a fighter aviation regiment. He participated in the defense of Odessa, Kharkov, in offensives near Rostov, Taganrog, Melitopol, inside the Germany territory.
In total, over the period of the War, A. Alelyukhin committed 601 assault flights, participated in 258 air fights, defeated 40 enemy airplanes personally and 17 within a group.
After the War, he continued to serve in the Air Forces in command and staff positions.
Alexei V. Alelyukhin was awarded with the Orders of Lenin (1942, 1943), the Orders of the Red Banner (1941, 1943, 1945), the Order of Alexander Nevsky (1943), the Order of Patriotic War, 1st class (1985), the Order of the Red Banner of Labor (1968), and the Orders of the Red Star (1942, 1954).
The envelope with a commemorative stamp provides an image of the symbol of celebration of the 75th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945; the central image offers a portrait of Alexei Alelyukhin against the La-7 Fighter Aircraft and two Gold Star medals.
