Lt. Lyudmila Mikhailovna Pavlichenko (1916‒1974) was a sniper of 54th Rifle Regiment, 25th Rifle Division of the Separate Coastal Army, North-Caucasus front.

From first days of the war, Lyudmila Pavlichenko volunteered to go to the front. Due to her good training, she got into the sniper platoon.

She took part in the heroic defense of Odessa as a member of the division since August 10, 1941. In mid-October 1941, the troops of the Separate Coastal Army were sent to the Crimea to strengthen the defense of Sevastopol, a naval station of the Black Sea Fleet.

By July 1942, Lyudmila Pavlichenko killed 309 Nazi soldiers. Not only was she a great sniper, but she was also an excellent teacher. She trained dozens of good snipers during the period of defensive battles. On October 25, 1943 under a Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, Lt Lyudmila Pavlichenko was awarded a title of the Hero of the Soviet Union and the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star Medal.

After the war, she graduated from the Kiev State University in 1945. She was a staff scientist at the General Headquarters of the Navy in 1945–1953. She was invited to participate in many international congresses and conferences, and also engaged in activities of the Soviet Committee of War Veterans.

She was awarded two Orders of Lenin and several medals including the Medal for the Defense of Odessa.

The envelope with an original stamp features an emblem of the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945; the main image depicts a portrait of Lyudmila Pavlichenko with a sniper rifle in her hands and the Gold Star Medal.
