On November 5, a postage stamp dedicated to Christmas tree decorations was put into postal circulation

The brightest attribute of the New Year holiday is a New Year tree traditionally installed in every city and house.

New Year tree decorations are baubles and all sorts of tiny figures made of glass, papier-mâché, and using the cartonnage technique that are used to decorate a New Year tree for the New Year and Christmas. In the 19th century, Christian themed decorations, candles and angels, and sweets predominated; later on, in the second half of the 20th century, of great popularity became Christmas lights, rockets and other symbols of industrial revolution.

Today, original Christmas tree decorations made of unusual materials such as straw, paper, fabric and others have gained popularaity. Many of us still keep lovingly, reverently and fondly old New Year decorations inherited from our grandparents.

Besides, New Year symbols are Ded Moroz and Snegurochka. These are fairy-tale characters of Russian folklore; they come on New Year's Eve to the house where there live children and bring them gifts in a large sack.

The postage stamp features Christmas tree decorations.

In addition to the issue of the postage stamp, JSC Marka produced First Day Covers and special cancels for Moscow and Penza, as well as a maxi-card, and an illustrated cover with the postage stamp, a label and a First Day Cover with a cancel for Moscow inside.
