On August 20, a postage stamp dedicated to Akhmat-Haji Kadyrov, the first President of the Chechen Republic, a statesman and a public figure, was put into postal circulation in the Heroes of the Russian Federation series



Akhmat-Haji Kadyrov (1951–2004) was a Russian statesman and a political figure. He was the first President of the Chechen Republic in the composition of the Russian Federation. By the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation of May 10 of 2004, for the courage and heroism demonstrated on ensuring the revival of the Chechen Republic and in the fight against terrorism A. Kadyrov was awarded the title of Hero of the Russian Federation (posthumously).

The name of Akhmat Kadyrov is borne by the Grozny International Airport, the Akhmat football club from Grozny, mosques, schools, a gymnasium, a sports complex, the Suvorov Military School in the Chechen Republic, and others. In August of 2004, the highest award of the Republic - the Order of Akhmat Kadyrov - was established in memory of the first President of the Republic of Chechnya.

The postage stamp features a portrait of Hero of the Russian Federation A. Kadyrov and the Golden Star Medal; in the background, there is the Heart of Chechnya Mosque named after Akhmat Kadyrov.

In addition to the issue of the postage stamp, JSC Marka produced First Day Covers and special cancels for Moscow and Grozny.
