The exhibition opening ceremony was attended by members of the Government of the Saratov Region, deputies of the Saratov Regional Duma, representatives of the Saratov Regional Federal Postal Service, Joint Stock Company Marka, Joint Stock Company Russian Post, and the Union of Philatelists of Russia.
The philatelic exhibition is dedicated to Russia Day and presents philatelic exhibits of JSC Marka: My Russia and UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Russia. This unique philatelic collection is displayed in Saratov for the first time; it reflects the diversity of historical, cultural, and religious heritage our country.
According to Alexei Antonov, the Chairman of the Saratov Regional Duma, the Exhibition highlights how vast Russia is and how many peoples live here in peace and harmony. It showcases our unity, natural wealth, and history. The display of such philatelic material is of great significance for the Saratov Region.
Elena Poznyakova, the First Deputy Minister of Culture of the Saratov Region, proposed displaying the collection at cultural institutions so that as many residents of the Saratov Region as possible could see the postage stamps. In this connection, a decision was taken to extend the exhibition at the Saratov Historical and Patriotic Complex Museum of Military and Labor Glory, one of the most visited cultural and educational centers of the city.
Alexey Borodin, the President of the Union of Philatelists of Russia, thanked the leadership of the Saratov Regional Duma, of Joint Stock Company Marka and Joint Stock Company Russian Post for organizing the Exhibition, noting that it would be an important event in promoting and developing philately in the region. He also recalled that earlier, in the framework of Space Week in the Russian Federation, an official cancellation of a postage stamp dedicated to the 65th Anniversary of the first human flight into space took place at the site of Yuri Gagarin’s landing, along with a display of space-themed philatelic materials provided by JSC Marka.
