On March 28, four postage stamps dedicated to the 80th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War were put into postal circulation in the Flora of Russia series

May 9 is the day of celebration of the national holiday: the Day of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. It is our sacred duty to preserve the memory of the feat of veterans who, owing to their bravery, courage, indefatigable industry and selflessness, ensured peace and freedom for new generations.

The memory of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War is imprinted in the names of domestic varieties of trees, shrubs and plants. Many Soviet plant breeders were front-line soldiers and after the victory devoted themselves to floriculture. L. Kolesnikov and N. Mikhailov, I. Deryagina, I. Shtanko were respectively engaged in breeding new varieties of lilacs, irises, and roses.

Bright flowers symbolize pride and triumph of the right cause.

The postage stamps provide images of peony Pobeda (Victory), dahlia Vechny Ogon (Eternal Flame), canna Salut Pobedy (Salute of Victory) and rose Geroyam Eltigena (For the Heroes of Eltigen).

In addition to the issue of the postage stamps, JSC Marka produced First Day Covers and special cancels for Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kaliningrad, Nizhny Novgorod, Penza, Rostov-on-Don, Ryazan and Chelyabinsk, as well as maxi-cards and an illustrated cover with postage stamps, a label and a First Day Covers with a cancel for Moscow inside.
