The head of the Universal Postal Union highly praised the activities of the World Association for the Development of Philately under Russian leadership

On February 19, within the framework of the meeting of the Postal Operations Council of the Universal Postal Union, the President of the WADP and the Director General of JSC Marka Artem Adibekov reported on the results of the activities of the World Association for the Development of Philately. In 2024, the WADP successfully carried out large-scale activities aimed at strengthening international cooperation and digitalization of the philatelic industry.

The meeting participants highly appreciated the philatelic conference and workshop Innovations in Philately: Reaching a Broader Audience held in Shanghai from November 29 to December 1, 2024. An important outcome was the exhibition of digital philatelic products, which aroused great interest and raised public awareness.

In 2024, the WADP was actively involved in key events in the philatelic world, such as the 18th General Meeting of the Mediterranean Postal Union in Amman, Jordan, in June of 2024, and the 13th Postal History Symposium in the United States dedicated to the 150th Anniversary of the Universal Postal Union in November of 2024. Within the frames of the 19th competition class for postal organizations, innovations have been introduced such as QR codes, which allow exhibitions guests to move over to operators' online stores and the WNS website. This strengthened the ties between traditional philately and e-commerce.

The WADP took a decision to carrying on the work on standards for crypto stamps and NFT stamps. The top priorities for 2025 are to establish an educational platform and identify the best practices in this area.
