On October 22, at the meeting of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Arts, Artem Adibekov, the Director General of JSC Marka, a Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts, reported on the plans of issuing state valuable postal matter occasioned with the 80th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Zurab Tsereteli, the President of the Russian Academy of Arts, supported the Publishing House's initiative to issue postage stamps with images of artworks by prominent figures of the Academy.
In 2025, JSC Marka plans to dedicate two series of postage stamps to the theme of patriotism and commemoration of the Soviet people's heroic deed in works of fine art: Artists of the Victory and Contemporary Art of Russia.
From the very first days of the Great Patriotic War, artists and sculptors shared its tragedy with the country and the people. Some of them fought at the front, joined the people's militia, and struggled in partisan units. Others became part of the formed artistic brigades, traveled to the front line, viewing in close proximity the combat actions and virtually participating in them via giving pictorial eyewitness reports. Among the masters who worked during the War let us call painters and sculptors Georgy Moskalev, Evsei Moiseenko, Alexander Deineka, Geliy Korzhev, Vladimir Tsigal, Vladimir Pereyaslavets and many others. Today, paintings and magnificent monuments tell about their life and work during this period.
The Modern Art of Russia series will offer issues of postal miniatures also dedicated to works on the subject of the Great Patriotic War by contemporary artists and sculptors, among them being Zurab Tsereteli, Andrei Kovalchuk, Boris Nemensky and Vasily Nesterenko.
