On September 12, an official ceremony took place of special cancellation of postage stamps dedicated to Kalashnikov assault rifles

The event was held as part of the Second All-Russian Arms Forum in Moscow. The ceremony was attended by Kirill Lysogorsky, a Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation; Alan Lushnikov, the President of JSC Concern “Kalashnikov”; Mikhail Gushchin, the President of the Russian Practical Shooting Federation; Bekkhan Ozdoev, the Industrial Director of the Rostec arms cluster; as well as Vladimir Solovyov, a journalist, a radio- and TV-presenter.

75 years ago, in 1949, in compliance with the Decree of the USSR Council of Ministers No. 2611-1033ss, the Soviet Army adopted the 7.62 mm Kalashnikov assault rifle (AK), which went down in history as the AK-47.

The postage stamps feature Kalashnikov AK-47, AKMS, AK74 and AK-12 assault rifles. It was these four products that brought worldwide fame to the Mikhail Kalashnikov School. The Kalashnikov assault rifle is registered in the Guinness Book of Records as the most widespread small arms in the world: the total production of all modifications is estimated at more than 100 million units; it is in service with the armies and Special Forces of 106 countries.

The face value of the postage stamp is 31 rubles; the Print Run is 30 thousand each stamp. The design is by Artist Sergey Ulyanovsky. In addition to the issue of the postage stamps, JSC Marka produced First Day Covers and special cancels for Moscow, St. Petersburg and Izhevsk.
On September 12, the postage stamps were put into postal circulation and went on sale in post offices throughout the country and the Collectioner show room chain.
