On September 6, an official ceremony took place of cancellation of a postage stamp dedicated to the 200th Birth Anniversary of Pyotr Alabin, a government leader and a public personality

The event was held in the format of a videoconference simultaneously in Kirov, Samara, Sevastopol, Podolsk and Sofia (Republic of Bulgaria). All these cities are connected with the life and activities of P.V. Alabin.

In Samara, the event was attended by A. Khinstein, the Chairman of the State Duma Committee of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on Information Policy, Information Technologies and Communications, a coordinator of the Historical Memory federal Party project; N. Ovsienko, a Deputy Head of the Russian Presidential Directorate for State Humanitarian Policy, a Deputy Chairman of the Russian Military Historical Society, V. Fedorishchev, the Acting Governor of the Samara Region, and A. Kochetkov, the Director of the Alabin Samara Regional History and Local History Museum. In Sofia, the stamp was cancelled by E. Mitrofanova, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Bulgaria and S. Todorova, the Chairman of the Union of Bulgarian Journalists. In Kirov, A. Sokolov, the Governor of the Kirov Region, Yu. Balyberdin, the Director of the Alabin Kirov regional museum of local lore and R. Kochergin, the Acting Director of UFPS of the Kirov Region, a branch of JSC Russian Post went on air. In Sevastopol, the ceremony was attended by M. Razvozhayevthev, the Governor of Sevastopol, and E. Prin, the Director of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise Post of Crimea. In Podolsk, the event was attended by I. Bryntsalov, the Chairman of the Moscow Regional Duma, G. Artamonov, the Head of Podolsk, and S. Britvin, the Director of the Moscow Macroregion of JSC Russian Post.

Pyotr Alabin was an outstanding political leader, a public personality, a historian, an archaeologist, a military writer, a local historian and a botanist, a full State Councilor, the Mayor of Samara, and an Honorary Citizen of Samara, Vyatka and Sofia.

He took his place in history as one of the most successful Samara mayors who did much for the economic and cultural development of the region. His name is also known abroad thanks to his organized assistance to the brotherly Bulgarian people in the fight against the Turkish invaders. The fate and legacy of Pyotr Alabin united different cities of our country, as well as the united fraternal peoples of Russia and Bulgaria.
The postage stamp provides a ceremonial portrait of Pyotr Alabin against the background of the panoramas of the cities of Samara and Sofia where he was an Honorary Citizen.

The Design Artist of the postage stamp is Daria Musikhina-Belova. The face value of the postage stamp is 50 rubles; the Print Run is 90 thousand stamps.

Today, the postage stampswere put into postal circulation and went on sale in post offices throughout the country and the Collectioner show room chain.
