On August 17, a stamp dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the Torpedo Moscow football club was put into postal circulation



The team foundation date is considered August 17 of 1924. On that day, the first official match of the Proletarskaya Kuznitsa team, the club's predecessor, took place. On May 22 of 1936, the team was named Torpedo.

During the Soviet period, Torpedo was a regular participant in the Supreme League of the Union Championships. Torpedo players have amassed an impressive collection of titles and medals. Champions of the USSR in 1960, 1965 and 1976 (autumn). Silver medalists in 1957, 1961 and 1964. Bronze medalists in 1945, 1953, 1968, 1977, 1988 and 1991. Torpedo is a six-time winner of the USSR Cup (1949, 1952, 1960, 1968, 1972, and 1986).

In different years, Torpedo was represented by such world-famous players as Eduard Streltsov, Valentin Ivanov, Viktor Shustikov, Valery Voronin, Alexander Ponomaryov, the Savichev brothers, Sergey Prigoda and many other outstanding football players.

The Russian period of the Torpedo history was marked by winning the Russian Cup (1993) and bronze medals of the National Championship (2000).

The postage stamp provides an image of the jubilee emblem of the Torpedo Moscow football club.
