On December 18, stamps dedicated to the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) were put into postal circulation in the Arctic Tourism in Russia series

Arctic tourism in Russia is a sort of tourism in the Arctic territory adjacent to the North Pole and incorporating the continental margins in the territorial waters of the Russian Federation in the Arctic Ocean and the dry land territories of the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation. Tourist operators in the Russian Federation offer sea cruises, rafting, boating, fishing and hunting, skiing and hiking routes in the Arctic region. Besides, in great demand is Arctic expedition tourism with routes passing through the islands of the Arctic Ocean.

The Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) is the largest constituent region in the composition of the Russian Federation and the largest administrative division in the world. It is also one of the most inclement places in the world in terms of climate: it hosts the cold pole of the Northern Hemisphere.

Yakutia is a region with a high level of natural resources economic potential (25% of the world's diamond production with 5% of the explored area; oil, natural gas, coal, gold, vast forested areas). The region is known for its extreme climatic conditions: winters here are the coldest among all regions of the world, not counting those where there is no or little permanent population.

The territory of the Republic offers to view unmatched natural sights: the Batagaika crater, the Buluus glacier, sand dunes of Tukulans, the Kisilyakh Range, as well as various museum-reserves with unique nature. The Arctic coast of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) has a special natural, climatic, historical, cultural and economic significance.

The postage stamps provide images of a reindeer herder in a sledge pulled by reindeer, the Ulakhan-Sis mountain range with granite pillars, and a sculptural composition in the form of mammoth tusks with the inscription Verkhoyansk is the Cold Pole.

In addition to the issue of the postage stamps, JSC Marka produced First Day Covers and special cancels for Moscow, St. Petersburg and Yakutsk, as well as illustrated covers with postage stamps, a label and a First Day Cover with a cancel for Yakutsk and the second emission type with holographic foil inside
