On November 1, 2023, a meeting of the Postal Operations Council of the Universal Postal Union was held in Bern (Switzerland). Artem Adibekov, the WADP President and the Director General of JSC Marka reported on the results of the activities of the World Association for the Development of Philately (WADP) in 2023.
The key area of focus of WADP activities in early 2023 became a broad-scale event, namely, a philatelic market development survey among the 115 member countries. This is a tremendous effort and processing of a large amount of data. The results collected by the WADP have a positive impact on the introduction of new technologies for postage stamp sales and attracting consumers of different ages, as well as searching for and implementing of innovative approaches to philately promotion.
Presently, active preparations are underway for the 18th Competition Class to be held from November 27 to December 2 of 2023 during International Stamp Exhibition Thailand 2023 in Bangkok. As part of the philatelic exhibition, the WADP in cooperation with experts and specialists in the field of digitalization will arrange a special training session on digital philatelic products.
Besides, it was noted that with the view of popularization and promotion of philately, it is intended to arrange in 2024 a joint jubilee project of stamp issuance by all WADP member countries to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the UPU that would bring together all UPU postal operators.
All WADP activities are aimed at raising the relevancy and status of philately as cultural property of global significance.
