The Popov Central Museum of Communications is holding the 14th Scientific and Practical Seminar on the history of mail, philately and deltiology

On October 9 of 2023, the 14th Scientific and Practical Seminar on the history of mail, philately and deltiology themed the Postal correspondence as a documentary source for local history research opened in the Popov Central Museum of Communications in St. Petersburg.

In the course of the seminar, 30 reports of experts were given a hearing, and a collection of resource materials including about 50 articles of museum staff and collectors-researchers of philately and deltiology was presented. Joint Stock Company Marka represented by its Director General Artem Adibekov was awarded a diploma for participation in the preparation of resource materials for the collection.

In the framework of the Seminar, traditional philatelic exhibition Saint Petersburg Vernissage. Week of Postal Collections - 2023 was opened timed to coincide with the International Letter Writing Week. The exposition included 35 exhibits and 5 monographs. Joint Stock Company Marka demonstrated its thematic exhibit Literary Russia, which included postage stamps, souvenir sheets, stamped envelopes and postcards of the Russian Federation issued from 1992 to 2023, dedicated to the history of Russian literature. The Popov Central Museum of Communications presented thematic exhibits Cosmonauts' Mail and Minerals.

The event is organized by the Popov Central Museum of Communications and the Union of Philatelists of Russia with the assistance of the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation, JSC Russian Post, JSC Marka, the Union of Deltiologists of Russia, the Society of Philatelists of St. Petersburg, Moscow and regions, Foundation World of Russian Philately, the St. Petersburg Club of Postcard History Lovers CLIO and other participants.

The participants of the Seminar were collectors of philatelists' societies from St. Petersburg, Moscow, Voronezh, Vladimir, Donetsk, Kaluga, Perm, Samara, Ulyanovsk, Ufa, as well as experts from the Institute of History and the Institute of Philosophy of the St. Petersburg State University, Russian State University for the Humanities (former Moscow State Historical and Archival Institute), the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia, other universities and museums of Russia, Foundation World of Russian Philately, and the St. Petersburg Club of Postcard History Lovers CLIO. Besides, the seminar was attended by collectors who are members of the Philatelists' Union and museum staff from Belarus, Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as researchers, artists, art experts, museum staff, teachers and students of St. Petersburg universities.
