On September 20, a ceremony took place of special cancellation of stamped postcards dedicated circus performers, Heroes of the Soviet Union Ivan Shepetkov and Pavel Domnin

The event was attended by Sergey Belyakov, the Director General of the Russian State Circus Company; the Director General of the Great Moscow State Circus on Vernadsky Avenue, People's Artist of the Russian Federation; Vladimir Doveyko, a People's Artist of the Russian Federation, and Yury Khalyavin, the Chairman of the Trade Union Committee of the Russian State Circus Company.

Ivan Shepetkov (1910-1941) was a rifleman of the 4th company of the 2nd battalion of the 1075th rifle regiment of the 316th rifle division of the 16th Army of the Western Front, a Red Army soldier, a circus performer, a Hero of the Soviet Union. After finishing school, he worked as an artist of the Alma-Ata circus. On November 16 of 1941, he participated in repelling of numerous enemy attacks as a member of a group of tank fighters at the Dubosekovo crossing of the Volokolamsk District, Moscow Region, where he died heroically. By the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of July 21, 1942, he was posthumously awarded the title of a Hero of the Soviet Union for "exemplary performance of combat missions of the command on the frontline of the fight against Nazi invaders and for bravery and merit beyond the duty". He was also awarded the Order of Lenin (1942).

Pavel Domnin (1912-1943) was a sergeant of the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army, a circus performer, a Hero of the Soviet Union. After finishing a sports school, he worked as a circus wrestler. During the Great Patriotic War, he took part in battles on the Voronezh, Central, and 1st Ukrainian Fronts, in the Battle of Kursk, and the Chernigov-Pripyat offensive. In 1943, as a member of the assault group, he forced the Dnieper River near the village of Tolokunskaya Rudnya, Vyshgorod district, the Kiev Region of the Ukrainian SSR, and took an active part in capturing and holding the base area on the Dnieper western bank. He killed about 70 soldiers and officers of the enemy in the battle. By the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of October 17, 1943, he was awarded the title of a Hero of the Soviet Union “for courage and heroism manifested on forcing the Dnieper”. He failed to receive the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal because in December of 1943, he was missing in action near the town of Korosten.
