On June 27, a postage stamp dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the establishment of the state administrative agency in the field of physical culture and sports was put into postal circulation



The Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation (Minsport of Russia) traces its history back to the establishment in 1923 of the Supreme Council of Physical Culture under the All-Russian Central Executive Committee, to be transformed into the Ministry in 2008.

Today, the Ministry of Sports of Russia is a federal executive body responsible for the development and implementation of state policy and normative legal regulation in the sphere of physical culture and sports, as well as law enforcement functions and functions of monitoring and supervision in the sphere of physical culture and sports.

Sport in Russia has gained brilliant traction and is of great national importance; victories of national teams in competitions increase the prestige of the country in the international sports arena. Our country has held the Olympic Games and Student Games at the highest level and many championships in various sports. Presently, culture and values of a healthy lifestyle are under formation as the basis of sustainable development of society and quality of life of people.

The postage stamp provides an image of an emblem of the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation.

In addition to the issue of the postage stamp, JSC Marka produced First Day Covers and special cancels for Moscow, St. Petersburg, Ufa and Elista as well as maxi-card and an illustrated envelope with the postage stamp, a label and a First Day Cover with a cancel for Moscow inside.
