Art of a Stamp exhibition opened in Samara

From May 4 to July 9, 2023, the Art of a Stamp exhibition of paintings and postal miniatures is taking place in the Samara Region Alabin Museum of History and Local Lore. The opening ceremony was attended by Alexander Khinstein, the Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Information Technologies and Communications, a Deputy of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation; Artem Adibekov, the Director General of JSC Marka; and Andrei Kochetkov, the Director of the Samara Region Alabin Museum of History and Local Lore.

The Art of a Stamp exhibition is a unique joint project of the Russian Academy of Arts, the Union of Artists of Russia, the Moscow Branch of the Union of Russia, the Moscow Union of Artists and JSC Marka; it is a combined exhibition of painting, graphic works and postal miniature. The Marka Publishers has been producing state valuable postal matter of the Russian Federation for over 165 years. The collection of postal stamps, postcards, envelopes and souvenir gifts is annually replenished with new issues dedicated to historical events in Russia, monuments of the world cultural and natural heritage, architectural attractions of cities, museums, and outstanding artistic personalities of the country. The exhibition presents paintings by Honored and People’s Artists of Russia, the leading artists of the Marka Publishing House, members of the Moscow Branch of the Union of Artists of Russia: Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts A. Adibekov, S. Ulyanovsky, and O. Savina, and also encompasses a wonderful collection of artistic postage stamps, envelopes, and postcards dedicated to the historical, natural and cultural heritage of Russia and the Samara Region.

During the opening of the exhibition, a ceremony was held of cancellation of a postal block dedicated to the Samara Luka National Park that was put into postal circulation in 2022 in the Natural Heritage of Russia series. The postal block provides images of the Samara Luka National Park, a fox as a symbol of the Park and a white-tailed eagle. The face value of the postal block is 150 rubles; the Print Run is 25 thousand blocks. The design is by artist O. Savina.
