On February 25, a postage stamp dedicated to the 100th Birth Anniversary of Vladimir Vinogradov, a scientist, a Hero of Socialist Labor, was put into postal circulation



Vladimir Vinogradov (1923–2003) was a scientist in the field of oil and gas industry, a Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor (1969), a Hero of Socialist Labor (1983).

Vladimir Vinogradov was born on February 25 of 1923 in the village of Nemchinovka of the Moscow Region. In 1950, he graduated from the Moscow Oil Institute. From 1951 to 1993, he worked at the Gubkin Moscow Institute of Oil and Gas Industry: he was a senior lecturer, an associate professor, the Dean of the Mining and Oil Faculty, and the Head of a Chair.

In 1962-1993, Vinogradov was the Rector of the Institute, and since 1993, an Advisor to the Rector of the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas. In 1985-1992, he was the President of the Association of Moscow High Schools; and in 1992-1994, he held the position of the President of the Russian Union of Rectors.

Vinogradov is the author of more than 200 scientific papers, an Honorary Member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences (1993), an Honored Oil Worker, an Honored Prospector, an Honorary Worker of the Gas Industry, an Honored Worker of Science and Technology of the Uzbek and Turkmen SSR, a twice Winner of the Academician I. Gubkin Prize.

The postage stamp provides a portrait of Vladimir Vinogradov against the background of the Gubkin Moscow Institute of Oil and Gas Industry.

In addition to the issue of the postage stamp, JSC Marka produced First Day Covers and a special cancel for Moscow.
