On January 20, a postage stamp dedicated to football was put into postal circulation in the Sports series



Football is a team sport in which the purpose is to score a ball into the opposing team's goalposts with feet or other body parts (except for hands) more times than the opposing team will do into yours. Currently, it is the most popular and participation sport in the world.

Competitions in football, as in any other sport, make an important component of the game. Competitions are divided into domestic and international, which in their turn, are divided into contests of club and national teams. Football tournaments gather tens of thousands of stadium stands and multimillion TV audiences.

The most famous competitions are those held by FIFA and UEFA.

The postage stamp features an image of a football player with a ball against the background of the markings on the football field.

In addition to the issue of the postage stamp, JSC Marka produced First Day Covers and special cancels for Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kaliningrad, Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk, Ryazan, and Sevastopol, 
and a maxi-card.
