On December 20, an official ceremony took place of special cancellation of postage stamps dedicated to resorts in the North Caucasus

The event was attended by Alexandr Novak, a Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation; Yuri Chaika, the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the North Caucasian Federal District; Sergey Nazarov, a Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation; Kazbek Kokov, the Head of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic; Rashid Temrezov, the Head of the Karachay-Cherkess Republic; and Andrey Yumshanov, the Director General of Joint Stock Company KAVKAZ.RF.

The North Caucasus is a multinational historical, cultural, and political region of Russia. It comprises the northern part of the slope of the Great Caucasus Range and the Fore-Caucasus region, as well as the west of the southern slope as far as the Psou River. The most promising resorts in the republics of the North Caucasus Federal District, both in operation and under construction, are combined into the North Caucasus Tourism Cluster. Among them are all-season tourist and recreational complexes Arkhyz, Elbrus, Armkhi, Veduchi, Mamison, Matlas, Tsori and the Caspian coastal cluster.

Elbrus is a mountain resort in Kabardino-Balkaria in operation since the 1970s. It is one of the first alpine ski centers of the USSR, a legendary place for ski recreation, trekking and mountain climbing, and a world-class brand; it is one of the key centers for all-Russian and international winter sports competitions and training of alpine ski teams of the country.

Arkhyz is an up-to-date novel resort in the mountains of Karachay-Cherkessia. It is an all-season resort visited by up to 700 thousand tourists a year. It hosted its first guests in the winter of 2013, and presently, it is one of the three chief alpine ski centers of the country.

On November 18, the postage stamps that provide images of these resorts were put into postal circulation in the frames of new series Resorts in the North Caucasus and went on sale in the quantity of 52 thousand items in post offices throughout the country and the Collectioner show room chain. The postage stamps feature Arkhyz and Elbrus resorts.
