On November 18, stamps dedicated to Arkhyz and Elbrus resorts in the North Caucasus were put into postal circulation




JSC Marka in cooperation with KAVKAZ.RF launches a series of postage stamps dedicated to the resorts of the North Caucasus.

The North Caucasus is a multinational historical, cultural, and political region of Russia. It comprises the northern part of the slope of the Great Caucasus Range and the Fore-Caucasus region, as well as the west of the southern slope up to the Psou River. The most promising resorts in the republics of the North Caucasus Federal District, both in operation and under construction, are combined into the North Caucasus Tourism Cluster. Among them are all-season tourist and recreational complexes Arkhyz, Elbrus, Armkhi, Veduchi, Mamison, Matlas, Tsori and the Caspian coastal cluster.

Elbrus is a mountain resort in Kabardino-Balkaria in operation since the 1970s. It is one of the first alpine ski centers of the USSR, a legendary place for ski recreation, trekking and mountain climbing, and a world-class brand; it is one of the key centers for all-Russian and international winter sports competitions and training of alpine ski teams of the country. From June to October, mountaineers from all over the world come to the Elbrus Region for top climbing to the western or eastern peaks. With the purpose of their acclimatization, there is a unique mountain shelter LeapRus arranged at an altitude of 3,912 meters.

Arkhyz is an up-to-date novel resort in the mountains of Karachay-Cherkessia. It is an all-season resort visited by up to 700 thousand tourists a year. It hosted its first guests in the winter of 2013, and presently, it is one of the three chief alpine ski centers of the country. Arkhyz is the winner of the National Award in the field of physical culture and sports in the Sports facility of Russia category and the Leaders of sports industry award in the The best novel ski resort in Russia category.

The Arkhyz postage stamp provides a general view of the resort and the figure of a snowboarder; the Elbrus postage stamp features the LeapRus high mountain shelter and a group of climbers.

In addition to the issue of the postage stamps, JSC Marka produced First Day Covers and special cancels for Moscow, Nalchik and Cherkessk, as well as two maxi-cards, and an illustrated envelope with postage stamps, a label and First Day Covers with cancels for Nalchik and Cherkessk inside.
