On September 28, a postage stamp dedicated to Sergei Perets was put into postal circulation in the Heroes of the Russian Federation series



Sergei Perets (1969-2002) was a commander of the motorized platoon of the Special Purpose Police Unit, militia captain, Hero of the Russian Federation.

The Presidential Decree of November 8, 2003, awarded Captain Sergei Perets the title of Hero of the Russian Federation (posthumously) “for brave and decisive actions in the course of performance of official duty and combat tasks during the counter-terrorist operation in the Chechen Republic under conditions attended by a real risk to life, displaying courage and heroism, and saving the lives of the personnel”.

The postage stamp provides a portrait of Sergei Perets, Hero of the Russian Federation, a combat action scene and an image of a Gold Star Medal.

In addition to the issue of the postage stamp, JSC Marka produced First Day Covers and special cancels for Kostroma, Moscow, St. Petersburg and Vologda.
