The Monument to Road-Builders Warriors was unveiled on May 7, 2002. It is established in Odintsovo District of the Moscow Region on the 71st km of the M-1 Belarus highway at the intersection of Mozhaisk and Minsk highways. The authors of the sculpture are People's Artist of the Russian Federation Andrei N. Kovalchuk and his father Nikolai A. Kovalchuk who began his battle route in this direction. During the Great Patriotic War, new roads and bridges were constantly required for ferrying troops and military equipment. The construction of such strategically important objects was assigned to road troops.
The monument images the teamwork of road warriors. A concrete basement carries a sculptural composition representing a group of soldiers who, under the enemy fire, is building a river crossing site to be used by the Soviet offensive troops and military equipment. The complex consists of the Monument to the Road-Builders Warriors fallen during the Great Patriotic War and the Chapel of the Icon of the Mother of God of Smolensk.
The postage stamp provides an image of the Monument to Road-Builders Warriors established on the 71st km of the M-1 Belarus highway.
In addition to the issue of the postage stamp, JSC Marka produced First Day Covers and special cancels for Moscow and Narsky of the Moscow Region, as well as an illustrated envelope with the postage stamp, a label and a First Day Cover with a cancel for Moscow inside.
