On November 22-24, 2021, a plenary session of the Postal Operations Council of the Universal Postal Union was held in the remote format; in the frame of the session, the results of the election of the President of the World Association for the Development of Philately (WADP) were announced. Artyom Adibekov, the Director General of JSC Marka, was elected the President of the Association.
Besides, the session elected the WADP Vice-Chairman representing Tunisia, and the WADP Steering Committee to be composed of representatives of the People's Republic of China, the Republic of Cote d'Ivoire, Luxembourg, Romania, the Russian Federation, Slovenia, Tunisia, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.
The Russian Federation has been chairing the World Association for the Development of Philately (WADP) since 2012. This event speaks to the fact that the entire world community has recognized Russia as the leader in this field. For many years, Russia has been arranging the WADP activities, such as conferences, round tables, working groups meetings, and exhibitions of postal administrations. All WADP efforts are aimed at mainstreaming of philately as the cultural treasure of global importance. Since 2017, JSC Marka has been advancing the Art of a Stamp exhibition project, which brings together state valuable postage matter and fine art paintings of authors of postal miniatures. 26 exhibitions have already been held in 18 cities of Russia and worldwide.
