Zurab Tsereteli, the President of the Russian Academy of Arts, highly appreciated the activities of the Marka Publishing House

On October 19, 2021, Artyom Adibekov, the Director General of JSC Marka, the Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts, addressed a meeting of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Arts reporting on the results of the 10-year work for popularization of Russian art on state valuable postal matter.

Zurab Tsereteli, the President of the Russian Academy of Arts, highly appreciated the activities of the Marka Publishing House and cooperation with the Academy. The members of the Presidium emphasized that “postage stamps acquaint Russian nationals with the best art works and popularize Russian culture worldwide”. A resolution was taken to enter into a long-term agreement on partnership and to establish a special section of postal miniatures based on the Russian Academy of Arts.

The Publishing House annually issues postage blocks and stamps dedicated to prominent artists, sculptors, graphic artists who are members of the Academy of Arts. Over the past 10 years, postage stamps with more than 60 subjects have been issued with a total print run of 10 million copies. President of the Russian Academy of Arts Z. Tsereteli took part in the work with the issue, as well as members of the Presidium of the Academy: A. Kovalchuk, N. Borovskoy, O. Koshkin, V. Glukhov, E. Romashko, A. Lyubavin, A. Teslik and others. Each Russian postage stamp becomes a real piece of art.

In 2020, illustrated philatelic album Russian Academy of Arts on Postage Stamps was published; the album contains 35 postage stamps and blocks themed Art. At a webinar held in December of 2020, according to the professional philatelic community of the Universal Postal Union, postage stamps of Russia became the best in the world and a reference standard for other countries. Russian postage stamps along with paintings by postal miniature artists were on display at the headquarters of the Universal Postal Union in Bern (Switzerland) in July through October 2021.

In the philatelic community, Art is one of the most popular areas in collecting. The collector’s items in this domain are presented by postal valuable matter devoted to painting art, graphic art, sculptural art, handicraft items, as well as their authors and creators.
