The event was held in the Ivanov's House cultural heritage object in Samara. The cancellation ceremony was attended by Andrey Turchak, the First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation; Dmitry Azarov, the Governor of the Samara Region; Alexander Khinstein, the Chairman of the State Duma Committee of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation on Information Policy, Information Technologies and Communications, coordinator of the Historical Memory federal project; and Maxim Akimov, the Director General of JSC Russian Post.
Samara is a city in the Middle Volga Region of Russia, the center of the Volga economic district and the Samara Region. Nowadays, it is a large economic, transportation, scientific, educational and cultural center. Samara is also a major center of mechanical engineering and metalworking, metallurgy, oil refining, food, space and aviation industries. The city is home to more than 150 large- and medium-scale industrial enterprises. In 2016, the city was awarded the title of the “City of Labor and Military Glory”. July 2, 2020, Presidential Decree awarded the city the title of the “City of Labor Valor”, for its citizens “made a significant contribution to the achievement of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, by providing uninterrupted production of military and civilian products at industrial enterprises, located in the city, and demonstrated upon that massive labor heroism and selflessness”.
The postal stamps provide images of the IL-2 attack aircraft in Samara, built in Kuibyshev at Aircraft Plant No. 18, which came down in the battle during World War II. The combat vehicle was found in the Murmansk Region in autumn of 1970 and was restored by workers of the plant. On May 9, 1975, the monument was unveiled. The idea to install a real IL-2 attack aircraft as a monument was put forward by veterans of the aircraft plant who used to labor at building these combat vehicles during the War. The monument is installed at the intersection of Kirov Avenue and Moscow Highway. The architect is Alexey Morgun, the sculptors of the monument are Igor Fedorov and Alexey Frolov. Based on the voting results, citizens of Samara chose this particular object as the most recognizable symbol of valor and heroism during the War.
The cancellation ceremony was held in the post office opened after reconstruction in the Ivanov's House cultural heritage object executed in the retro style. A stamped card was issued for the opening of the retro post office in the quantity of 2,200 items.
The postage stamps and stamped cards came into circulation, and nationals of Russia now have an opportunity to use them to send their correspondence in Russia and around the world.
