On September 2, an official ceremony took place of special cancellation of stamp Contemporary Art of Russia

The event was held in the exhibition hall of the Moscow Branch of the Union of Artists of Russia in the framework of opening of the traditional autumn exhibition Moscow and Moscovites. The cancellation ceremony was attended by Nikolai Borovskoy, the Chairman of the Moscow Branch of the Union of Artists of Russia, People's Artist of the Russian Federation, Academician and member of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Arts; Artyom Adibekov, the Director General of JSC Marka, the Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts; and Andrei Dubov, the Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, the Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts, whose painting became a pre-image of the postage stamp.

The Contemporary Art of Russia series of postage stamps presents the artwork of modern authors who convey the atmosphere of new Russia, its identity and dynamism, demonstrates the techniques and approaches to creating paintings and sculptural compositions that are peculiar to our times. At the event, a postage stamp featuring painting Volga expanses (2003) by Andrei Dubov was cancelled. All the art works by A. Dubov are imbued with love for the Motherland and keen lyricism. The master's paintings are available in museums in different cities of Russia and in private collections in Germany, Italy, and Belgium. The stamp was put into postal circulation on July 5, 2021, in the quantity of 78 thousand items.

The Moscow and Moscovites exhibition is an annual exhibition of Moscow artists for the Moscow City Day, which opens the autumn exhibition season. In total, 308 artists with 360 artworks participate in the exhibition on two exhibition sites: in the exhibition hall of the Moscow Union of Artists of Russia on Begovaya Street and in ArtKombinat art studios in Perovo. The focus in the artists’ paintings is placed on Moscow with its ancient history and the beating pulse of modern times. The picturesque and poetic image of the capital with the Moscow Kremlin, churches, parks, streets, streetcars, cars, metro stations, estates near Moscow, famous celebrities and ordinary citizens appears before the eyes of the viewer in artists’ paintings, drawings, sculptures and decorative compositions.

The exhibition will extend from September 2 through September 17, 2021. The addresses of the two exhibition sites in Moscow: 7 Begovaya Str., the exhibition hall of the Moscow Union of Artists of Russia, and 24A Perovskaya Str., ArtKombinat art studios. Working time: daily 11:00 - 19:00, Sunday is a day-off.
