On July 16, an official ceremony took place of special cancellation of an artistic stamped envelope dedicated to the 20th Anniversary of the signing of the Russian-Chinese Treaty between the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China

The event was attended by Igor Morgulov, a Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation; and Zhang Hanhui, the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Russian Federation.

The Russian-Chinese Treaty on Good-Neighborliness, Friendship, and Cooperation was signed on July 16, 2001, in Moscow by Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, and Jiang Zemin the President of the PRC. The treaty is for 20 years with an automatic five-year extension, unless either party expresses its intention to withdraw from the agreement.

Presently, the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China are associated by a multidimensional, truly comprehensive strategic partnership based on the unshakable principles of respect for sovereignty, national identity, equality, good-neighborliness, and consideration of each other's interests. The countries conduct an intense, profound political dialogue, build an extensive system of mutually beneficial economic contacts by means of developing counter trade and investments, and extending industrial and technological cooperation. The bilateral cooperation involve intensively the federal subjects of the Russian Federation and Chinese provinces.

Of considerable success are cross-years of Russian-Chinese interregional cooperation. The Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China seek to cooperate closely on the world stage in favor of stability and global and regional security. Consolidated efforts of the two countries are making a considerable contribution to resolving the world's most pressing problems, counter-standing new challenges and threats; both countries are advocating in accord a new, fair world order based on multipolarity, strict observance of international law, the United Nations Charter, equality and mutually beneficial cooperation.
