On June 10, a ceremony of a postal block cancellation took place and the Art of a Stamp exhibition opened that are dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the Yasnaya Polyana Memorial Estate

The event was held in the frame of festive events in Tula in a new branch of the Yasnaya Polyana Memorial Estate. The cancellation ceremony was attended by Vladimir Tolstoy, the Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation on Culture; Ekaterina Tolstaya, the Director of the Yasnaya Polyana Memorial Estate; Olga Gremyakova, a Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Tula Region; and Tatyana Rybkina, the Minister of Culture of the Tula Region.

On June 10, 1921, by the Resolution of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee, the Leo Tolstoy’s estate in Yasnaya Polyana was nationalized and received the status of a museum. Tolstoy’s daughter Alexandra Tolstaya was appointed the "Commissar Curator" of the museum. She arranged a cultural and educational center in Yasnaya Polyana with a library and a school to organize lectures, performances, exhibitions and excursions. A century after its establishment, the museum continues to work in the lines defined in early years. The Yasnaya Polyana Memorial Estate today is a system of facilities, a network of branches that determine the various forms of interaction between the museum and society. The museum promotes close contacts with foreign colleagues. A good tradition are international meetings of writers, holding festivals and scientific conferences.

 
The postal block is issued in the quantity of 30 thousand item. The block features Leo Tolstoy’s house, Sofia Andreevna and Leo Nikolaevich Tolstoys and entry towers. In addition to the issue of the postal block, JSC Marka will produce First Day Covers and special cancels for Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Yasnaya Polyana of the Tula Region.


Besides, the State Memorial and Natural Reserve Leo Tolstoy’s Yasnaya Polyana Memorial Estate holds the Art of a Stamp exhibition, which is a unique joint project of the Russian Academy of Arts, the Union of Artists of Russia, the Moscow Branch of the Union of Artists of Russia, the Moscow Union of Artists and JSC Marka; it is a combined exhibition of painting, graphic works and postal miniature.
 
The exhibition provides an opportunity to see artworks by painters, whose works were featured on postal miniatures: People’s Artist of the RF N.I. Borovskoy, Honored Artist of the RF N.N. Plastov, a member of the Moscow Branch of the Union of Artists of Russia F.A. Sukhinin, as well as paintings by leading artists of JSC Marka: A.V. Adibekov, S.A. Ulyanovsky and O.N. Savina
 
The exhibition will be held from June 10 until July 4, 2021, at the address: Tula Reg., Shchekinsky District, Yasnaya Polyana village, Exhibition Hall of the Volkonsky House; working time: Wednesday – Sunday from 10:00 to 16:00.
