The tradition of celebrating the Day of Children and Parental Happiness dates back several years. This holiday harmonically weaves together two other holidays: the International Children's Day and the Global Day of Parents, which also falls on June 1 and is associated with an established church celebration in honor of Saints Dmitrii and Eudoxia. The saints lived in a happy union for 22 years and became, according to the chroniclers, a model of chaste wedlock, an example of love, respect and fidelity. They were parents of 12 children.
The drawing competition devoted to the Day of Children and Parental Happiness was held from April 5 until May 30, 2021 jointly with the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation by the Foundation of Apostle Andrew the First-Called, the Children’s Radio station for children and their parents, JSC Marka and Leo trademark. The participants in the competition were schoolchildren and students from 83 regions of Russia, more than 4,000 artworks were submitted to the Organizing Committee.
