On March 17, as part of the "Decorative and Applied Art" series, four stamps dedicated to the Fedoskin lacquer miniature were put into postal circulation

    
Fedoskino miniature lacquer painting is folk artistic craft, a kind of traditional Russian miniature lacquer painting with oil paints on papier-mâché that took shape at the end of the 18th century in village of Fedoskino located near Moscow.

Today, a lacquer box with a Fedoskino miniature is a gift of prestige and high value. Each handiwork is uniquely designed and has its own certification number. It takes 4 to 6 months to manufacture a box. Miniatures are painted with three layers of oil paints The Fedoskino miniature painting has entered the treasury of Russian national art; it is a national wealth greatly appreciated all over the world. Artists M.S. Chizhov, S.P. Rogatov, M.G. Pashinin, I.I. Strakhov, V.D. Lipitsky, P.N. Puchkov and others contributed a lot to the development of Fedoskino art. Artworks of Fedoskino artisans grace the best world collections.

The postal stamps provide images of boxes from the collection of the Moscow Regional Museum of Folk Art Crafts: Tea Party (1946) by V.I. Lavrov; The Firebird (1959) by S.V. Monashov; Ruslan and Lyudmila (1971) by M.S. Chizhov; and Ivan da Marya (1989) by Yu.V. Dotsenko.

In addition to the issue of the postal stamps, JSC Marka will produce First Day Covers and special cancels for Moscow, St. Petersburg and Fedoskino of the Moscow Region, as well as an illustrated envelope with postal stamps and a label, and souvenir blocks made on plywood.
