On February 25, a postcard with a commemorative stamp dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the animator Roman Alekseevich Kachanov was published in the postal circulation

 
Roman A. Kachanov (1921–1993) was one of the founders of the national stop action (3-D) animation. He was the cartoon-film director, scriptwriter and artistic director. Roman Kachanov was a People’s Artist of the RSFSR (1981) and laureate of the USSR State Prize (1982).
Kachanov directed his first cartoon-film, The Old Man and the Crane, in 1958 in collaboration with director Anatoly Karanovich. A year later, they joinly produced a screen version of Nazim Hikmet’s Love Cloud, which received awards at international film festivals.
Roman Kachanov set off for independent activities as a director in 1960, having produced cartoon-film Little Masha and The Bear. Roman Kachanov worked primarily with the Puppet Film Association.
Roman Kachanov participated in the creation of more than 60 animated films. His films The Mitten, Crocodile Gena and The Mystery of the Third Planet have become recognized Russian and international animation classics.

The commemorative postal stamp provides a Roman Kachanov’s portarait against a filmstrip, palette knife, pencil and paintbrush; the main image shows a frame from cartoon film The Mitten (Soyuzmultfilm, 1967).

In addition to the issue of the postcard with a commemorative stamp, JSC Marka will produce special cancels for Moscow, St. Petersburg and Smolensk.
