On February 17, an official ceremony took place of special cancellation of a postage stamp dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the Moscow Technical University of Communications and Informatics.

 
The event was held at the Moscow Technical University of Communications and Informatics in the frame of a solemn celebration of the University Centenary. The event was attended by Sergey Naryshkin, the Director of the Foreign Intelligence Serviceof the Russian Federation and the Chairman of the RussianHistoricalSociety; Maksut Shadayev, the Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation; and Sergei Erokhin, the Rector of the Moscow Technical University of Communications and Informatics.
 

The Moscow Technical University of Communications and Informatics (MTUCI) is a higher educational establishment in Russia in the field of information technology, telecommunications, cyber security, television and radio engineering.

 
 
The history of the University as a higher educational institution dates back to February 1921 with the establishment on the basis of the Electrotechnical School of Public Communication. In 1971, the institute was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor for great services in training communications specialists and successful research activities.
 
 
Today, MTUCI is a large educational and scientific center for training and retraining of highly qualified specialists in the field of telecommunications, computer science, radio engineering, economics and management. The MTUCI is a member of the European Society for Engineering Education (SEFI); it participates in European conferences and seminars on higher education issues held by SEFI (Czech Republic, the Netherlands, etc.). The University is a member of the Association for Business Cooperation of International Departments of Higher Educational Institutions of Central and Eastern Europe (AMO), a member of the Council for Work with Foreign Graduates of Russian Educational Institutions. There are MTUCI Alumni Associations in many countries.

As Maksut Shadayev, the Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media, stated in his speech, it is evident, that those who receive training at the university today are exactly those people who will determine the future of technologiesand it is very important for Russia to make progress in this area.Therefore, everyone who is studying at the University is at the frontline.

The print run of the postage stamp for the 100th Anniversary of MTUCI was 104 thousand items.In addition to the emission of the postage stamps, the JSC Marka produced First Day Covers and special cancels for Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod and Rostov-on-Don.
As part of the celebrations, a monument was unveiled to Alexander Feklisov, a University graduate, a legendary intelligence officer, Hero of Russia, who was also portrayed on a 2020 postage stamp issued for the 100th Anniversary of the Foreign Intelligence Service.
