On December 7, an official ceremony took place of special cancellation of a postcard with a commemorative stamp dedicated to the 200th Anniversary of the Peter the Great Military Academy of the Strategic Missile Forces

The event was attended by Major General Leonid Mikholap, the Head of the Military Academy of the Strategic Missile Forces; Colonel Anatoly Rug, the Deputy Head of the Academy; Major General Roman Nogin, the Deputy Head of the Academy for Academic Affairs and Research; Colonel Sergey Demeshko, the Head of the Command Faculty of the Academy; and Artyom Adibekov, the Director General of JSC Marka.

The Military Academy of the Strategic Missile Forces traces its history back to the officer department of the Artillery School, which was opened on November 25 (December 7) of 1820 in St. Petersburg and is one of the oldest educational institutions. The Academy was thrice highly decorated with state awards: the Order of Lenin in 1938, the Order of Suvorov of the 1-st Class in 1945, and the Order of the October Revolution in 1970. Nowadays, the Military Academy trains officers of command and engineering specializations capable of operating sophisticated modern equipment and ready to apply it in any conditions.

As was stated by Artyom Adibekov, the Federal Communications Agency in cooperation with JSC Marka annually produces a variety of philatelic products dedicated to governmental and military educational institutions. The produced postcard provides images of warriors of different ages and the emblem of the Peter the Great Military Academy of the Strategic Missile Forces. The print run of the postcard is 10 thousand. “I am sure that the postcard will become a unique piece, a philatelic rarity among collectors around the world and will forever preserve the memory of today’s event,” he added.
