The event was attended by the Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Oleg Matytsin and the General Director of "Stoloto" Anton Shapiro.
Stoloto is the largest distributor of All-Russian state lotteries, which are held for the purpose of financial support and development of physical culture and sports. The organizers of the lotteries are the Ministry of Finance of Russia and the Ministry of Sports of Russia. The first drawing of the numerical lottery "Sportloto" took place half a century ago — on October 20, 1970-in the Central House of the Journalist in Moscow. This lottery became a cultural phenomenon of the era: Vladimir Vysotsky and Mikhail Boyarsky dedicated songs to it, and Leonid Gaidai made one of the highest — grossing films of that time-"Sportloto-82".
Today, lotteries are distributed by their own and partner retail networks in all 85 regions of Russia through more than 100,000 points of sale, as well as on the website of the online lottery supermarket and in the Stoloto mobile app. In total, the Stoloto brand portfolio includes 17 state lotteries. Stoloto supports the Federations of Rugby, boxing, gliding, and aeroplane sports within the framework of corporate social responsibility. Stoloto is part of the multi-profile Russian holding company S8 Capital, which is engaged in the creation and development of high-tech digital products and platforms and unites enterprises in the financial and telecommunications sectors, in the field of e-commerce, digital media and retail.
"In the USSR, "Sportloto" was held to finance sports events in the country. Lotteries provided up to a quarter of the budget for the Summer Olympics-80 in Moscow. The lottery money was used to build and reconstruct sports facilities throughout the Union. Now the state lotteries also continue to make a significant contribution to the financing of socially significant programs aimed at the development of physical culture and sports in the country," said Sports Minister Oleg Matytsin.
"The main criteria for the success of state lotteries in Russia are the honesty and transparency of the drawing process, the availability of tickets and security, as well as strict state control over both the conduct of the draws and the payment of winnings to the winners. Stoloto is the largest distributor of All-Russian state lotteries, supports the traditions of the Soviet lottery past and is responsible for financing programs aimed at the development of physical culture and sports. Targeted deductions from state lotteries for these purposes already exceed 14 billion rubles, and total deductions from lottery activities to budgets of different levels amount to more than 27 billion rubles. The amount of winnings in state lotteries has already exceeded 130 billion rubles," said Anton Shapiro, General Director of Stoloto.
The stamp with the image of the Stoloto lottery logo was issued on November 25, 2020 with a circulation of 135 thousand copies. In addition to the issue of the postage stamps, the first day covers and the special cancellation postmark are issued.
