JSC Marka has been awarded with a diploma of the Petersburg Vernissage philatelic exhibition

On October 9, 2020, philatelic exhibition Petersburg Vernissage. Week of Postal Collections - 2020 opened in the A.S. Popov Central Museum of Communications; the exhibition is timed to coincide with the International Letter Writing Week. Joint Stock Company Marka presented the Way to Victory exhibit to the participants of the seminar and visitors to the museum. It includes postage stamps, envelopes with commemorative stamps and pre-stamped postcards issued from 2016 to 2020 in the frame of the philatelic program dedicated to the 75th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.

Besides, the A.S. Popov Central Museum of Communications hosted the XI Science and Practice Seminar on the history of mail, philately and deltiology: The theme of war in postal correspondence, on postage stamps and postcards, held under the auspices of the Federal Communications Agency with the support of JSC Marka.

Among the participants in the Seminar, there were leaders and experts of JSC Marka, JSC Russian Post, A.S. Popov Central Museum of Communications, the Postal Communications. Technique and Technologies journal, the Union of Philatelists of Russia, the Institute of History of the St. Petersburg State University, the Society of Philatelists of St. Petersburg, the Perm Society of Philatelists, the St. Petersburg Club of Postcard History Enthusiasts, the St. Petersburg Raznochinny Petersburg Museum, as well as collectors, researchers, artists, art critics, museum workers, teachers and students of St. Petersburg universities. In the course of the Seminar, the participants listened to the reports of experts and became acquainted with a collection of guidance materials containing 40 articles of different topics.

Background information:
The decision to hold the Letter Writing Week annually in the week of October 9, the day of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) institution, was taken in Ottawa (Canada) by the XIV World Postal Congress in 1957. In 1969, the XVI UPU Congress in Tokyo (Japan) instituted an additional annual international holiday, the World Post Day, which is celebrated on October 9.
