The Yeni-Kale lighthouse is located on Cape Fonar, the easternmost point of the Crimean peninsula at the entrance to Kerch Strait. In 1820, in order to enable the ship passage via Kerch Strait, a lighthouse was built, named after the Yeni-Kale fortress 5 km away to the south.
The Meganom lighthouse is located in the southernmost part of Cape Meganom, in the wildest stretch of the Crimean coast; it is the most hard to access lighthouse in terms of distance. The lighthouse on Meganom was put into operation in 1895 on the order of Emperor Alexander II.
