The V. Chkalov State Flight Test Center of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation (GLITs) is a Russian aviation scientific research establishment.
The GLITs dates its history back to 1920, when an experimental airfield was established on the Khodynka field in Moscow. Later on, it was transformed into the Scientific Research Institute of the Air Force, and subsequently into the State Flight Test Center, from 1960 based on the airfield of Akhtubinsk, the Astrakhan Region.
The commemorative stamp provides images of warriors of different times; the main illustration features the emblem of the V. Chkalov Order of Lenin Red Banner State Flight Test Center of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
In addition to the issue of the postcard with a commemorative stamp, JSC Marka will produce special cancels for Moscow, St. Petersburg and Akhtubinsk, the Astrakhan Region.
