On August 7, a postal block dedicated to the 300th Anniversary of the Russian Naval Victory in the Battle of Grengam was put into postal circulation



The Battle of Grengam took place in the course of the Northern War on July 27 (August 7) of 1720 in the Baltic Sea.

The result of the Battle of Grengam was the end of the unchallenged Swedish supremacy in the Baltic Sea and coming of Russia into ascendance in the region. The Battle was the final great naval battle of the Northern War, which advanced signing of the Nystadt Peace Treaty.

The postal block provides an image of a fragment of the Battle of Grengam of July 27 1720 painting by A. Bogolyubov (1866, State Russian Museum).

In addition to the issue of the postal block, JSC Marka will produce First Day Covers and special cancels for Moscow, St. Petersburg and Kaliningrad, as well as an illustrated envelope containing postal blocks dedicated to the Battles of Gangut, Chesma and Grengam and a label.
